Peeling of the skin between the buttocks may appear due to wearing synthetic underwear, improper diet, excessive sweating of the body or impaired functioning of the immune system. This is often associated with buttock dermatitis, an inflammatory skin disease in which itching, redness and scaling occurs.
Hygiene and Proper Nutrition
Buttock dermatitis is an unpleasant disease requiring immediate treatment. First of all, you should pay attention to personal hygiene. It is necessary to completely stop using hygienic products with perfume fragrances and replace them with hypoallergenic or regular baby soap.
Underwear must be made of cotton or other natural breathable fabric. For some time, you should abandon jeans, leggings, polyester tights, as well as any other thick clothes that do not allow the skin to “breathe.”
It is important to adhere to proper nutrition and eliminate possible allergens from the diet. It is necessary for at least two weeks not to consume chocolate, smoked meats, canned food, fried foods, strawberries, as well as products containing a large amount of preservatives and dyes.
Causes of Peeling
The reasons for which the skin flakes off between the buttocks can be both external and internal.
- skin reaction to underwear and clothing made from synthetic, “not breathing” fabrics;
- excessive sweating of the buttocks;
- allergic reaction to gel for intimate hygiene;
- non-compliance with personal hygiene;
- the use of hygiene products that violate the Ph-balance of the skin;
- allergic to laundry detergent used in washing underwear and bed linen;
- spending a lot of time in a sitting position.
All of these factors, individually or in combination, can cause peeling and irritation of the skin between the buttocks.
The internal factors of dermatologists include unbalanced diet, serious malfunctions of the digestive system, hormonal or immune disorders, and long-term antibiotic treatment.
Sometimes the cause of peeling becomes candidiasis, mycosis or eczema. These diseases can only be identified after trichoscopy (taking a skin scraping for analysis).
Often, peeling of the skin between the buttocks occurs due to a malfunction of the nervous system. If the problem is accompanied by constant fatigue, drowsiness, anxiety and sleep disorders, then sedatives should be drunk.
The following drugs are referred to sedatives: Glycine Forte tablets from Evalar, motherwort or peony tincture, Valerian tablets.
Drugs must be taken during the main treatment, along with other medicines prescribed by a therapist or dermatologist.
Treatment of peeling between the buttocks requires the use of regenerating ointments or creams. Among them, the most effective are “Bepanthen”, “Zinc ointment”, “Streptocid ointment”, “Actovegin” and “Miramistin”.
All of them have a moisturizing and wound-healing effect, have a detrimental effect on all pathogenic microorganisms, reduce irritation and inflammation.
In severe cases of dermatitis, especially if the skin flakes off in the groin area and between the buttocks, corticosteroid agents are prescribed. Treatment with hormonal drugs can not be uncontrolled, so only a doctor should prescribe such drugs. In most cases, in case of moderate gluteal dermatitis, Advantan or Futsikort is prescribed.
To restore the lipid balance and protective functions of the epidermis, it is recommended to apply to the affected areas creams and ointments, which include the following components:
- Film-forming moisturizers. These are beeswax, glycerin, animal fats and vegetable oils. All of them moisturize and soften dry flaky skin.
- Linoleic acid (omega-6). Moisturizes and nourishes the skin, promotes the rapid healing of small cracks.
- Hyaluronic acid. Holds water molecules in the tissues of the epidermis and dermis, eliminates dryness and peeling.
It is recommended that every day after taking a shower, lubricate problem areas with children’s or any other fat cream. This will help to quickly eliminate the peeling and prevent their reappearance in the future.
